question about Jack and girlfriend

I only caught the show sporadically so....

I saw Jack with Mary Elizabeth Mastroantonio character; she was talking about having a baby, then it appeared they went to abortion clinic - she had been there a while when Jack was escorted back- she cried and said "it was awful", then appeared to get in a cab and leave him.

Could someone fill in the blanks? Thanks.
