The Bronx

When they are going to go to a location in the Bronx - they show a picture of a bridge that is supposed to be the Bronx-Whitestone. (like they would use that from Manhattan anyhow :-) )

From every comparison I can make with aerial photos of the B-W, it's not.

Anyone know what it is?

(Sure would have been easy enough to have the real one)

Just curious - what is it that makes you think that it's "supposed" to be the Bronx-Whitestone? Like you said, they wouldn't use that bridge from Manhattan, nor would they use the Throgs Neck. The only "major" Manhattan-Bronx bridge is the Triboro, but there are several smaller bridges.

This is an incomplete but interesting list http://nycbridges.blogspot.com/2007/09/list-by-borough.html

Actually you bring up the other illogical circumstance but first this:

It looked to me like the Bx-W - having crossed it both ways 100+ times. However when I compared what I saw on the DVD with Google satmap - the shown area where one of the bridge ends met the shore - it didn't match to my recollection (I don't want to dig out the DVD again at this moment). It could be another similar suspension bridge. (btw the Bx-W 'twin' was the infamous Tacoma Narrows - when that blew down they raced out the next day (1938) to check the BxW - but the East River-Long Island Sound winds never come to that level as there is flat terrain.)

The illogical aspect related to WAT is that the FBI office was in Manhattan and as you say they would not go via BxW (and Queens) anyhow. The picture is obviously not of the Triboro - they could have used the 3rd Avene Bridge but that is at the other end of 'pictuersque' - and hardly the Henry Hudson Drive bridge as that would dump them into plush Riverdale - hardly the scene of the Bronx crime they were sent to investigate. So they settled for a 'nice bridge' pic - which may not have even been the BxW.

I don't remember the exact shots you're referring to, but it brings to mind how Cagney & Lacey always set up a scene that would take place in Lacey's home. They always showed a plaque on a bridge that said "Entering Queens." To me, it looked like the Throgs Neck, because there's a prominent (but small) sign on the bridge that looks exactly like they used in the show. Totally illogical, though, because the Throgs Neck connects Queens and the Bronx, not Queens and Manhattan!

I've got 4 seasons WAT 1-4 - and don't recall episodes. If you happen to recall which one involved the Bx (might have been more than one with the shot but that's OK - it was the same if there was), let me know and will pull it out and get a pic up some place and you can see.
