Ask the Audience

I think they should seriously consider retiring this lifeline; it barely ever helps, since it tends to be used on really tough questions that most people in the audience aren't gonna know much more than the contestant. They should bring back 50/50 instead.

The audience is good for pop culture questions. Yesterday they showed a guy who asked the audience. One of the clues had 67%, the man STILL didn't go with that response (and the audience was correct)!

Yeah, I've noticed that's happened a couple times lately.

Exactly (re pop culture). There are certain questions about TV shows or music celebs I wouldn't know because I haven't watched them and pretty much don't care about them, but most other people have. I would find it really valuable on certain questions, almost never on others.

It really _is_ amazing how often people call on the audience option for questions that require some kind of specialized or higher-level knowledge that you could expect maybe three percent of the the audience to know at all.

The thing is when to use the audience and not one of the other options.

The audience is correct a good majority of the time and usually when they are wrong it's because the contestant says that is what they are leaning toward and it's a hard question and it leads them to go with that answer.

I always look at the 2nd place finisher because when that number is high, it's usually the correct answer.

I disagree. As the poster said they are great for entertainment questions (e.g. I know NOTHING about Harry Potter...) As for the 50/50, I (and others) was suspicious that it wasn't randomly selected, so maybe it got some backlash. But if they ever bring a lifeline back, that would probably be the one.

The lifelines I miss are the phone-a-friend and the double-dip, but it's understandable why they were both retired.

I don't want to make trouble, all I want is a drink.

Well they have the "Plus one" option, which is pretty much the same as phone-a-friend, only with the person actually there to eliminate cheating I guess.
