Why do they keep talking about winning a million when nobody ever does?

According to Justin, the guy who guessed on the 250.000 question and lost, the insurance company was complaining about paying out too much money, so that is why the so-called "classic Millionaire " questions are now almost impossible to answer. I also suspect that they weed out anyone who is too knowledgable during the interview process. They probably think that the audience doesn't want to see really smart people winning because they won't be able to "identify" with them. In other words, the show isn't really about knowing or figuring out the right answers, it is about getting the audience--meaning us at home---all worked up about the contestants winning and losing.

One woman did make it to the million dollar question during Cedric the Entertainer's run. She guessed but didn't get it. That was the last time I saw someone get to that question.

They also usually have 1 or 2 obscure questions in the first round too so they have to walk away with only half their money.

I recall a 100k question from last season about the early days of Superman.
which was a very easy one, well easy for most folks who know the background of
the Man of Steel.
