i really liked the one with Charlie (jason Priestley who is Brandon from Beverly Hills 90210). I loved it when Val first meets him and Charlie is like "didn't I know you in high school? I worked for the newspaper and you were friends with my sister..." I just thought it was funny because it was a reference to Beverly Hills 90210 because in that show Jason Priestley worked for the newspaper and Jennie Garth was friends with his sister, Brenda (Shannen Doherty)and i love it lol...haha anyone who is/was a 90210 fan probably thought it was cute hahaha.

The episode with Luke Perry makes reference to Beverly Hills, 90210 also. His character and Val had a one night stand in high school, after he broke up with Val's best friend, Brenda. Of course on 90210, Kelly (Jennie Garth) and Dylan (Luke Perry) hook up after (and before) he breaks up with her best friend, Brenda. Also, during Val's wedding to Rick, we learn her full name is Valerie Kelly Tyler. On 90210 Jennie Garth's character was Kelly Taylor.
I love when shows respect the actor's history and use inside jokes. It didn't take anything away from the plot line and those of us who are fans of both shows get a nice little chuckle.

Along those same lines....
In that same episode, Holly talks about Val missing her standup act at the school talent show or something like that. We eventually see footage of an 8- or 9-year-old girl doing standup comedy. That little girl is Amanda Bynes; the performance is from the graduation night of the comedy camp she trained at in 1995. (That's also the same night Dan Schneider first saw her & decided to hire her for All That.)
At the very end of the episode, while watching the video, Holly quips, "That kid should have her own show."
