Why the heck was this show cancelled?

I never watched it during it's original run. Like many I discovered it during it's syndication run on ABC Family and each episode has me in stitches. What I don't get is why the show only had like 4 seasons while Two and a Half Men gets to go on for 9. A show that is far from funny.

Yes this show is wonderful. I was sick when they cancelled it. I'll always have a special place in my heart for this show. My Fiance/best friend died in 2009 and we used to watch this show together every week, and we LOVED it.

Yeah, I always enjoyed the show too. I even watched it during it's original run. I will say that it did get a good finish. Not your typical series finale but it worked pretty well.

I thought the show had more life in it, too, and thought it could have run for at least one more season. It wasn't perfect, but compared to Modern Family, Two and a Half Men, and The Middle, which dominate the airwaves now and earn nothing less than extravagant praise for some reason, its pretty stellar and well written.

It was a great show. Almost every episodes, I am in tears because of laughter. I wish it could have last awhile longer. It was definitely better than most of the comedies today. I think the network missed out on the fact that they had a great show.

i totally agree! this is still one of my fav shows. i youtube them every moring when i get ready. i love all the characters. its sad that utter garbage like two and a half men/family guy/2 broke girls is still on but this gem was overlooked. also the simpsons needs to pack her in. it hasnt been funny since the late 90's.

I don't/didn't watch any of those other shows, but I definitely thought that 4 seasons wasn't enough. I'd have like to see Tina grow a little and see Lauren in graduate or something.

Yes, this show was funny as he!!. I still watch in online from time to time. Great casting, great characters, except for the creepy youngest daughter.

Yes!!
You didn't find Tina funny? lol.

I found her funny but her look was off-putting to me and creepy. She's grown into her looks and I think she's beautiful now. lol!

I just looked her up. She is gorgeous!

She is, isn't she? I would have never thought she would mature into the beautiful woman I see now.

Never judge a book by its cover. She is STUNNING! She's not creepy AT ALL. lol!

My sentiments exactly. There are so many unfunny shows on TV nowadays that are on for many seasons but are not funny. Two and a Half Men, Modern Family, and even uninteresting dramas like Glee, Empire, and even Scandal.

One only pitfall of many family sitcoms is when the kids start to inevitably grow up. Sometimes they can work it into the script smoothly but that usually doesn't work except with soap operas.

Another pitfall with any sitcom is when writers lose their creativity and start to run out of ideas. However, this cast had enough characters where they should have had no problems coming up with more storylines. There was the immediate family of 5, two sets of grandparents, Linda, her many boyfriends, their squeaky clean neighbors, Bill's coworkers, high school friends and enemies, Linda's boss, the kids friends, etc.

Nevertheless, I was also a big fan and wish they could have found a way to keep the show going without compromising comedy and uniqueness.

Sometimes the network just doesn't like a show. There were a lot of time slot changes, and the network was glad to see the show go. Other times, someone really has faith in a show even if the ratings aren't proving it out.
