Saying this is like Roseanne is horrible!

This show is funny sometimes but Roseanne was WAY more funny. Also the comparison of their parenting, Bill & Judy hardly ever show signs of loving their kids and Roseanne and Dan obviously do love their kids and care while joking around too.

Both are funny shows. I happen to like Roseanne better too but I still enjoy this one a lot and it has some really great story lines. But I don't you're right at all about them never showing love for the kids, it's in the episodes all the time.

I really don't know why anyone would even compare this to Roseanne. I'm not saying this because I think Roseanne is the better show, but because to me it's apples to oranges. Roseanne is a funny show, but has plenty of serious moments as well. Still Standing is a funny show, but had very few serious moments at all. I would consider Still Standing to me more along the lines of a farce.

Bill & Judy loved their kids, it showed a lot. The reason we like Still Standing better is b'c their kids were not "brats", and probably b'c they did not put them on a pedestal. Roseanne (I was a faithful viewer) got on my nervous b'c it was far fetched most of the time. They tried to hard to the extreme to be opposite of 'perfect family sitcoms'. Altho I did watch Roseanne when it was new on TV, I do not go out of my way to watch any reruns. I love watching Still Standing, over and over. It is just sad it never got the opportunity to make 100 episodes or to DVD. Sitcoms come & go, and this one was one that truly saddened us when it ended.

In my opinion "Still Standing" completely smoked "Roseanne". My family and I love to watch the reruns but never bother with "Roseanne".

Biggest problem I had with "Roseanne" was...Roseanne. Brassy, obnoxious and a goose egg on the MILF Meter.

Roseanne had much better writing and much better acting. No one on Still Standing is even close to as good as John Goodman or Jonathan Galecki when it comes to acting and over all fame. The kids on roseanne were better actors also. Roseanne was more real. Still Standing was good but it wasn't believable. It had the sense that is was show trying to be funny and not trying to be a real family.

One of the earlier posts said it best - Still Standing was a farce - a damn good one, but a farce.

I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked.

Thanks for agreeing. Still Standing is one of those shows that you watch when you have a bad day because it makes you forget your problems and makes you laugh.

I don't see the x comparison either, but from a different point of view. I like Still Standing better than Roseanne, which I only liked the first season. Roseanne and Dan were more permissive and their kids were more unruly, but Bill and Judy have unorthodox parenting methods from being past stoners but they are also generally stricter with their kids and their kids are more well-behaved. But in both cases their are plenty of things that I would not imitate in child-rearing. However, overall Still Standing is funnier, more unique, and more relatable, but I could see how the creators may have possibly used Roseanne as a springboard.

Likening this to Roseanne is indeed an insult to Still Standing. There is no one on Still Standing who is anywhere near as revolting as Roseanne Barr. Plus, Still Standing has some humor.

His investing advice left me in a drunken IRA haze.
