I'm guessing you've all seen the one where Jimmy and Cindy are fighting over weather Australia is a country or continent. but really, which is it? i know it's a continent, but is it also considered a country?

I live in New Zealand (which is next to Australia) and the continent I live in is called Austrilasia! I can see how this can be confused with Australia.
Australia is a country, it is in the continent Austrilasia.
Im pretty sure it isn't a continent.
Australia is definitely a continent and a country. I live here. John Howard (the Prime Minister) rarely refers to it as a continent.

If you consider Oceania to be one of the continents (these are usually the same people who consider Europe and Asia one continent - Eurasia), then no, it's just a country. But if you believe in the seven continent system, then it's both. Most people agree that it's both a country and a continent.

what i believ/thought is that australia is a country in the continent of Australia like theyre named the same thing and i just thought that new zealand and australia were both is the continent australia
