I will never understand the hate Macaulay gets for his portrayal of Michael. I just finished watching Party Monster for the millionth time, and, like always, I found him utterly charming and a joy to watch. All of his little acting quirks really complemented the character, in my opinion.

Agreed! Macauly was simply spot on in this film! Like the Club Kids would say... There's no such press as bad press... At least people are talking about it... And on this site your more likely to see haters more than anyone else.

I find that hard to believe as MM looks nothing like Michael Alig. What he looked like as a kid is irelevent.
shareA lot of adults found him cute and charming as a kid, but if you were not an adult, but a little older than him, you realized that even compared to other child actors, he sucked. Elijah Wood blew him off the screen when they were in a movie together.
He wasn't totally ineffective as Michael Alig, who in real-life always acted like he was a really bad actor in a really bad movie. But Culkin just has zero charisma. I liked his little brother in "Igby Goes Down" (although perhaps it wasn't a stretch for him to play a spoiled douchebag who everyone in the movie takes a swing at), but MacCauley has never been good in anything.
I also thought Seth Green was just horribly miscast, and for some reason Chloe Sevigny is always terrible when she plays a character too much like herself. She's great as an unsophisticated white-trash Nebraska teen in "Boys Don't Cry", but she was good in "Kids" only compared to other hateful douchebags in that movie (and really giving her real boyfriend a blow-job in ome of her other movies didn't really work for her either).
Anyway, I don't "hate" Macauley, but I just objectively think he sucks (and probably not as well as his co-star).
Please tell me you're trolling. Elijah is a horrible actor. Macaulay was better as a kid but still good years later.
