Could Lady Gaga have been a club kid?

if she was their age back then?

reply

Nope. But she does act like she invented the concept of dressing obnoxiously, calling it eccentric, and not being able to stand not having all the attention. Clearly, it's an ancient concept.

But why wouldn't she have been a club kid if she was around back then?

reply

I think she would have been. If nothing else they would have loved her.

I think I've heard her mention before in some interview back when she was first becoming famous that she is inspired by the club kid era. I think she would have fit in perfectly.

Don't read this

Who knows, I mean she did live in New York City and came from a wealthy family. So I'm guessing she would of had access to meet the Club Kids and perhaps join then.

After watching the movie and reading that it's based on a true story, I can't help but to clearly see that Lady Gaga clearly took a number of ideas from Club Kids. Aside from her outrageous costumes, her music and lyrics match those of what the Club Kids might of been part of during that time. The techno and heavy party is a bridge between the two.

However, hands down, Gaga has been much smarter as she's stepped into some positive light and has earned respect from various upper ups. Either way, she still looks like a drag from the Club Kids era.

I think it would depend on how she was perceived by them; either they would've loved her clothes and 'superficiality' or might have considered her a 'copycat' (-as Alig said about Angel) desperate to fit in with them.
Of course, it depends on whether they found her 'amusing' or useful, I suppose...

Everything about who she is conceptually comes from this movie. Even using the term "monster". The one thing she added was some musical chops. Lots of people can sing and write as well as her but they don't have the schtick. Lots of people have the schtick but don't have the musical ability. She has enough of both.

I have to add a lot of what she does comes from David Bowie and Leigh Bowery but they inspired the club kids as well. Bowery was a club kid.

Yes! I've been saying this ever since Gaga first came out and people were giving her credit for everythung. It was like living in the twilight zone where this chick who stole everyone else's style was being hailed as inventor of all while those she copied were accused of copying her. So weird. Glad that's over and everyone sees the truth that she's the copycat.

I always said it was do obvious that Gaga watched Party Monster countless times and stole the Club Kids schtick while not giving them any credit. Even some outfits she wore were almost identical to those that Michael Alig and James St James wore. Too bad she doesn't give credit because she wants to be seen as "original." The jig is up, Gaga. Everyone knows you're a copycat so give credit where it's due.
