Great show, uneven cast...

Ok, so comedy-wise, the characters were...

Sara Rue: She was perfect.
Andrea Parker: What a delight, she was so funny!
Kip, Ramona, Owen and Karl: They had their moments.
Eric Roberts: What a stinker!
Charlie: He stinks too.

What do you think?

Charlie was barely in it, 8 episodes out of 81, I don't think he's a good character to make a comparison of.

I'd agree with you that Eric Roberts was just wrong - it's not his fault, just not particularly his forte of acting and he can't seem to do both (like Alec Baldwin) can, but still.

Sara Rue, Andrea Parker & Zachary Levi were absolutely perfect casting for me - some of the funniest and well-delivered lines come from the 3 of them.

Personally I hate Andy Dick but (for this, my favourite TV show) I managed to tolerate him and I think he was definetly *right* for the role - especially since most of his interactions with Sherri Shepard were hilarious (and although through a lot of the series she's just a stereotypical black friend, Sherri was situationally really good).

The last 2 "main" cast members, Will Sasso and Patrick Warburton I'm yet undecided on... Patrick just seemed so stiff throughout even though his voice was pretty much hilarious. Will Sasso is another actor that gets on my nerves but his was again tolerable for this series... although I feel that out of the main cast (outside of Eric Roberts) he was the most replacable.

Sorry for the wall of text :P

p.s. I miss this show :(

I watched the whole series back when it originally aired on abc (and loved Sara Rue since), and i just got my copy of season 1, but i don't remember the latter seasons, so i was reviewing the characters on season 1, and that Charlie person was on screen a lot, which was annoying, for me at least.

I agree on Andy Dick, especially after what he did to Sara (on his House Arrest thing). I don't care about Sherri either.

So bottom line, Sara Rue, and Andrea Parker are brilliant on this series, i love them both.

I think abc didn't have much respect for the show, it doesn't even have a theme song! (at least not on S1), i remember how erratic its schedule was, they moved it from time slot, they aired some episodes, and then ages of nothing within a season, it was terrible treatment for the program. Too bad.

They should've released the complete series in a box at once, i think people who liked the show would get it, i know i would. I'm afraid we'll never get the rest of the series on DVD : (

It's very unlikey we'll get the rest of the series on DVD, yep.

I think ABC messed the show around too... then again, they do it with a lot of their shows. They promote their frontrunning shows like LOST to death and then things like LTP get moved from timeslot to timeslot - it never even had a proper opening credits roll (there was a theme song, it was just heard rarely).

A real shame, because it certainly was a gem of a show, one that most people will never have even heard of.

Andrea Parker is for me the best, than Zachary Levi and than Sara Rue.
I loved the Lydia/Kip interaction, they were just hilarious together! Amazing. And you can't even see, that they have a ten year age difference. Sometimes yes, but most of the times I just want to see them together...
