Hack on dvd

I contacted cbs and they said they have no plans to release it on dvd right away, but they would pass my suggestion on. I encourage other people to go to thier web site and make the suggestion also. Maybe if they get enough requests they will pay attention. I am also looking for it on tape if anyone would like to sell a copy

I have also contacted CBS about releasing Hack on DVD. I haven't heard from them yet but am very disappointed to hear that you have and they have no intentions of releasing it right now. I wasn't a David Morse fan when it first came out so I didn't watch it or tape it. Now I am a huge fan and would love to see it. If you happen to get a copy of any of the shows I would like to know how you obtained them. I would love a copy myself. Do you know of a good David Morse web site with a messsage board? Have been searching for that also. Any information you have would help.

This is the best David Morse website, but it doesn't seem to have a message board:

http://www.davidmorse.org/

If you're interested in helping get the show released on DVD, go to this website:
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/
and vote for it to be released, preferably as season sets. You have to register, but it's free and you will be notified of any news involving a possible release. So far, there are less than three hundred votes.

Voting does not guarantee a release, but it helps the industry gauge how much interest is out there. Get your friends to vote also.

Try having a look at the morseandmore website.

Go to David Morse Online, its a good site and gives you all the updates of what he is doing in the future.

Hello thegoldengunn,

I went and had a look on ioffer and I have made a member and I did notice someone from Japan or China selling HACK on 11 dvd's, but I wasn't sure if it was just season one or season two as well. I haven't bought them yet, but did you get them from a simular seller, and do you think they would be both seasons in? But like you I do prefer the second season of HACK cos I think David Morse looked better and he seemed more tuffer. You wouldn't be interested in selling your season 2 of HACK if your not really botherd about it ?
Thanks Gilly

Hack is not on DVD so someone there may have made their own DVD's and one thing to keep in mind when you buy any DVD from overseas is the format. If you have a universal DVD player you will be fine other wise you won't be able to play it. Paramount owns the rights to Hack, not CBS and they are in no hurry to put this show on DVD. It was a ratings failure in more ways then one. Had the show gone beyond season 2, it would have been moved to another city and this is what CBS wanted, they wanted out of Philly in the worst way. Too expensive to shoot here and too many union problems. There was also a battle going on between the city and CBS and this is what helped to kill the show plus Andre Braugher was given his own show Thief which failed and Thief was in development October of 2003 when season 2 of Hack was underway so he was out of the show. Maybe 20 years this show will go to DVD if it ever does.

Just remember, if you buy it and it's not offically sold via CBS/Paramount, it is illegal. Not too smart talking about it on a forum where you can be traced....

This is not true. In fact, the opposite is true: if a television series has not been made accessible for public purchasing, anyone can copy it from television and sell it for profit. Once the show's owner puts it out, it can no longer be sold legally by others.

reply

Your joking...really, of course it's not legal to make and sell material that does not belong to you. Just because it's not officially been released on DVD yet does not give you the right to steal it, make your own copies and sell them.
That's just one of the reasons the internet will soon be policed like we are all 10 year olds, due to theft of copyright, and the reason shows get cancelled or not officially released.

This came out years ago regarding The Guardian series, 2001-2004. Several sources produced copies. I bought one for over $100 from someone in Canada which played once for me but, when I tried to watch them again, it wouldn't play. Our Yahoo! The Guardian group discussed this and someone produced a link which explained why people were allowed to sell copies of broadcast/cable shows of it and other series as long as Universal, or whoever owned it, wasn't doing the same. Once Universal made copies for sale, those other groups no longer could. My slow dial-up service makes researching this for you problematic (I have other things I must do), but, if you join the old Yahoo! The Guardian groups, the one with Nick and Lulu in the name (the Nick Fallin group is pure porn links now, if it still exists), and search for DVDs in the search engine, you'll find all the references to this. Again - sorry I can't locate a link for you. Keep in mind that making DVDs from a broadcast and selling them has nothing to do with the Internet. While they may be advertised on the Internet, they are from private citizens who are within the law that you'll find on that Yahoo! Group's website. Happy hunting. And, if you do find it, please paste it here with a URL for anyone to check on, the URL and the quote itself.

I agree. Best show on TV. The comment on the main IMDB page says it all, for me.

I'll follow everyone's suggestions about getting it on DVD--would love to see it.

I agree too, the writing was *phenomenal*.

I think its timeslot at 9p on Friday had something to do with its lack of commercial success. That's a hard slot.

But artistically? Boy, what a show. I became a big David Morse fan after that and would like to see him in more things.

Sidenote: Did anyone else notice that the writing--while A+++ in the first season--sort of dominished in quality in the second season? His wife and his friend the priest were both no longer in it (both characters that added a lot to the show), plus they added that nun and that annoying kid, characters I didn't think worked at all. And the relationship between Washington and Oshansky, once taught and riveting, just seemed to fall apart.

All about the writing, I'm afraid. :(

My wife and I were *glued* to the set at 9p, every Friday during the first season.

But I have to be honest, I was way disappointed in the second season and didn't really watch it after that. :(

But I'd buy up the first season on DVD in a heartbeat! :)
