Chris Hargensen

She was so condescending and such a spoiled brat, I actually wanted Billy to kill her in the pig killing scene. Also the scene when the teacher slammed Chris against the locker, I was cheering for the teacher. :)

Emilie de Ravin was/is hands down the best Chris Hargensen of all. Way better than Nancy Allen (1976) and Portia Doubleday (2013)

yeah Emilie de Ravin was the best Chris, it is the character of Chris Hargensen that I don't like, she's a condescending bitch, yep.

Emilie was awesome in the role. But I have to say the teacher throwing her into the locker was crossing the line and should had lost her job. As much of a bitch as Chris (Emilie) was, the teacher can not put her hands on a student. She can send them to the principal, detention but not put her hands on them, ever

it was one of the all-too-few times they tried to stay with the book. Times were much much different in 1974, when the book was written. I remember in 1968, when one of the hardest hitters on the team mouthed off at the coach during tackling practice - said "like to see you do it better old man". They lined up with the 30-something coach in a lineman stance, the 17-year old 5 yards away in a running back stance. Coach told him "put your helmet down and we'll see who's the toughest. He blew the whistle, they hit helmet to head (coach was not wearing a helmet). The helmet on the kid split and he got his bell rung. Kid's father told him he'd asked for it. Coach played defensive tackle for the LA Rams before getting an eyeball popped out in a pileup. I'll never forget seeing that.. or the time he picked up a 200 pound lineman by the front of the shoulder pads, completely off his feet, with one arm. Again, daddy didn't have a problem with it. The mom's weren't happy but that didn't mean much in those days. Yep, much different times. That scene WAS realistic in those days. Small town schools didn't have many discipline problems, because they dealt harshly with the few they did have.
