most shocking elimination on American Idol?

My vote for the most shocking eliminations on American Idol was Pia Toscano (Season 10, Top 9), Siobhan Magnus (Season 9, Top 6) and Constantine Maroulis (Season 4, Top 6)

To me the most shocking elimination was Adam Lambert from the final two.

There were others in earlier rounds, I don't recall them specifically, but in 2 or 3 different seasons I quit watching altogether after some really fine singers were eliminated while some inferior singers remained on.

In this last season to me Trent and LaPorscha were the clear best fairly early on.

Constantine hands down. Him going before Scott Savol and Anthony Federov made NO sense.
I'd also put Pia up there. Her voice wasn't my style, but that was a weak season and her talent was undeniable.
Maybe Michael Johns.
I don't consider any eliminations from the top four on to be shocking because everyone from that point will most likely be successful if they really have the talent. That's just my personal opinion :)

I didn't see Pia or Michael Johns coming.

Chris Daughtry's elimination was predicted by dial idol and zabasearch which were highly accurate that season.

the first one is very clear cut and definitely the #1 shocker on Idol for sure...

1.Chris Daughtry - Season 5, 4th place.

2.Michael Johns - Season 7, 8th place (RIP) (he should have easily been within the Top 5 (for the record... Carly Smithson(6th place)/Michael Johns(8th place) both should have been within the Top 5 this season))

outside of those two, even though i did not care for her, i would say Pia Toscano (Season 10, 9th place) would be my 3rd choice.

outside of those 2-3 choices there has not been any genuine shockers on Idol. at least not since i been watching which is Season 5 to date.

I think Chris Daughtry is number one. Yes he still was in the top 4 but with the competition remaining he should have easily won. I know Taylor was insanely popular but I think a lot thought Daughtry would win. Talent and look wise I think only Kat was a real rival in the top 4. Although I loved Elliot and his voice but I don't think he was as marketable (of course neither was Taylor).

Would Clay Aiken count? I didn't even watch that season but weren't most predicting him? I also read that he was the top score getter for a ridiculous number of weeks and the difference between him and Ruben on the final was barely anything. I know he was still top 2 but I think most predicted him to win.

I guess Adam Lambert was shocking too but for some reason I wasn't as shocked. I could see some aspects of Adam turning people off.

Pia was a shock. She deserved to go much higher. Constantine was mostly shocking cause Scott outlasted him.

I think Tamyra Grey was considered a big shock.

I don't think people liked Adam Lambert as much as they disliked his fans. Too many of them were obnoxious, and I bet a lot of them didn't even bother to stay up voting for him since they thought he had it in the bag.
The most shocking elimination to me was Chris Daughtry. That guy had everything.
Still, both men came out pretty well in their post-Idol careers.

simon actually remarked on performance night to scotty that he was so bad he was going home.....but constantine was eliminated....the look on scotts face when constatines name was revealed was shock!...scott was stunned! and rightly so...he knew he did bad that week

For me Tamyra Grey was a shocker, and Michael Johns. Also, the handling of Michael's announcement was really not good. Was not the normal protocal on the show and was very awkward, a really ugly moment.
