Producer talking to Dick Clark before show: "The Beach Boys'll do the song, then you do the interview. I'd stick with Brian 'cause Mike's a wild card."

My original comment had nothing to do with Mike. It was just about thinking that Brian was the sensible one (as he might have been at the time), but he later on had the mental problems, drug abuse, etc. and would certainly not be considered the sensible one.
Ne disrespect meant to Brian Wilson or his mental health problems.
Yeah but in front of a camera Brian was shy and under control. Mike was kind of arrogant and indeed kind of a "wild card." Also, this was long before Brian's drug use and mental problems. I think the joke was more meant to be aimed at the Beach Boys of 1963, than the irony of Brian becoming kind of crazy later on.
