Tuition

Are they all paying tuition to that Catholic school, except for Sam on scholarship? Even JJ must not have been on football scholarship since that didn't even come up when he briefly quit the team.
And JJ's football teammate whose father said he would end up in jail or in the Army - why would his family bother paying private school tuition for him?
Or do they get tuition free for going to that church?

I'm just 2/3 of the way through Season 1 on DVD so pardon me if the explanation comes out later on.

From what I understand Catholic schools were extremely affordable to members of the parish the school was connected to. It would be much more expensive for Sam since he is not a member.

Some Catholic schools reduce tuition if two or more children from a family are attending the school. The Pryors could have gotten reduced tuition.
