NO.
I'm sorry, man, but that would turn it into another Paul WS Anderson movie. The problem with video game movies is that no one believes they have serious potential as good films. Metroid should have an orchestra score, like the games did. The peices written for Metroid are already haunting, perfectly fitting and moody... the theme for super metroid was actually covered by the New York Philharmonic (as was the Zelda theme) and it sounds fantastic. I don't mean to bash your ideas, but please not a dark metal soundtrack.

I've got to agree with Cocephus, here. Not that I don't like Dark Metal bands, but I'd really like to see Metroid go over a lot better than Resident Evil or something else of that caliber. I'd go for orchestral music with just a small(and I mean SMALL) dose of Electronica.

For instance the score to the film should be:

95% New York Philharmonic
4.5% Juno Reactor
0.5% Ambience

Just my two cents on the matter.

Also, go to OCRemix.org for some awesome Metroid remixes..."One girl in all the world - the wingless" is a great one that demonstrates the versatility of metroid's own music...Some others are nicely orchestrated and arranged...You don't need a metal band to make a great movie soundtrack...you just need a composer with soul...and the guy that did the metroid games is the perfect guy for a metroid score.

Turn to stone, lose my faith, I'll be gone before it happens.
