Game Time Vs. Real Time

The other day, I had a lot of time on my hands.

...like....a LOT of free time...

...And being the gigantic MP nut that I am, I decided to sit down and play the entire game from start to end and finish with 100% completion in a single sitting. With the exception of taking a bathroom break, it took me about 7 straight hours...and yet my game file only says a little over 5 hours. Why the difference? Does the clock not count the time during cut-scenes and loading levels, or does the game simply count time faster?

And yes, I'm aware I have no life.

The clock stops when you are looking at your map, saving, cut scenes, moving between levels, or reading chozo lore/pirate data/creature specs.
