Unwatchable Dreck

I viewed this film on DVD only long enough to realize that it was complete and utter *beep* with no redeeming qualities, whatsoever. A sheer embarrassment to everyone in it. Real film actors fell over themselves, apparently, to be in a film with non-actor and ex-musician, Bob Dylan. There could have been no other reason for masters of the screen, such as Jessica Lange, to agree to sign onto this very odiferous vehicle, just to appear with a very, very superannuated, grisly, and wooden Bob Dylan. Okay, so some people thought it made some point or explained something about Dylan. Toilet graffiti can do the same thing, and this film was no higher on the artistic scale than -- well -- toilet graffiti.

Your opinion is just as valid as anyone else's. But unfortunately you blew it with the "There could have been no other reason for..." line.

There could. I don't have all the answers myself, I'm just saying: there could.

If you can concur, then a healthy debate may be possible. Otherwise, no point debating, because it is an established and empirically proven fact that there is only one reason why each and every actor joined the project, no?

An opinion would have been more valid if you had actually watched the film. If you haven't seen it, then shut up!

reply

weren't you listening, he viewed this film. don't be such a superannuated odiferous

reply

The OP implied with his first sentence that he did not view much of this movie.

reply

yea i got that, but he thought it was enough.

Plot hole - Aspect of a film that is misunderstood or missed while using your smart phone.

Bob Dylan is not an ex-musician. He released an album last year and played concerts this year. I don't love this film either, but you actually just don't know anything about Bob Dylan.

reply

All the viewers who hate this film failed to understand it.

You can consider this flick to be an intelligence test, and yes, you failed.

so why do you think that people you obviously admire have signed into that film? Cannot be money issues, this was to be foreseen as a payback debacle (well maybe in 50 years it will be rewarded).

I would assume that your imaginative stars are capable of doing things that they find important than fulfilling your expectations and that these interpretations & the movie are a bit over your head ...

Nothing wrong with that. There is plate for everybody on the table of our celebrated consumers society.

But be sure to burn/delete all your Bob Dylan records too ... You did not get the message of his intentions ...

This movie is all about questioning the rule of 'entertainment' in show buiz that you obviously are a feeder to.

So it's no wonder that you are not in the position of 'getting it' ...

But no matter what: there are plenty of movies out there to satisfy your needs ...
Movies that are not 'Dreck' (well if you dig a little you may find some really stinking interests beneath them, but may align easer with your need to be entertained)

I watched the entire thing;just because I sat there in amazement at this crap. I enjoyed it because it was very funny: to see A list actors shuffle around in amateur takes. Must have been the allure of Dylan that attracted them; and blinded them to this faux-symbolism, to the ridiculous over-the-top dialogue. Dylan himself was wooden and lost. No sense at all of why he his character supposed to exude this magnetism. I see the 'punch' has already been discussed. It's a head-shaker: Mickey Rourke, Jeff Bridges - how did they get them to speak these lines? LOL
