Stewart carried it as usual

What an underrated and utterly amazing actor, he convincingly conveyed everything that the script and original film wanted to get across. A pity that most people cant see past picard.

I agree, he was incredible - he and Close complemented each other perfectly, it was like watching two people play tennis with hand grenades lol - of course I'm probably not biased because I've never actually watched star trek :|

I'm a big Star Trek fan and I spotted Stewart while changing channels and I watched for a few minutes because he's good in everything. I became so entralled in the story, I really stopped thinking that this is Patrick Stewart/Captain Picard at all, he was King Henry.

Normally I'd agree but he just didnt do it for me in this movie. Everyone of the actors was garbage. They had no passion for it at all.

It's a fantastic part and it was wonderfully acted by O'Toole but I liked Stewart's Henry even better. There was a stiffness to O'Toole that conveyed very well the regal side of Henry but failed the character just a little in the more emotional parts at the end. Stewart played every aspect of him beautifully and considering Close's performance, it wasn't easy to do.
