Pretty stupid movie

You know a movie is poor when a lot of us here on imdb are asking stuff about what happened in this scene, and why did this and that happen. The director forget to show us stuff. It was bad. This was an "action" renegade vigilante movie that was 99% talking. Booooring as hell. By the way, was Frank the father of Will and Davey? The brother? A friend? And who was Charlotte Rampling? Their mom? Maybe next time, the director will remember to let us know.
Oh yeah, maybe he'll also remember to not end his movie with the killer sitting on the stairs with the lady while the hero gets in his van and leaves. What a terrible ending. What happened? Please let us know next time.
Oh, and my favorite...how about Malcolm McDowell's reason for raping Davey. Did Davey hurt him? Or steal from him? Nope. Malcom raped Davey because he didn't like the way Davey walked and held his cigarette or looked at girls. Huh? Are you kidding me?

This wasn't an action film it was a character study. Difference one you have to follow and think about the other you just watch stuff blow up and fight scenes.

reply

So this is a bad movie because everything wasn't underlined and spelled out for you?

reply

No, I don't need to have everything spelled out for me. But I do need to know the basics of any movie: who the characters are, why the bad guy killed someone, and how it ends. NONE of those three things were explained.

reply

All of those things can be inferred from the characters' behaviour and dialogue. The bad guy does say why he did what he did- but it's one of the least satisfying parts of the movie. And if you got the idea that Frank was Will's father then you just weren't paying attention.

reply

One of the stupidest aspects is younger brother Davey's suicide evidently because he was raped. What kind of guilt is that?
