Only one black person in the movie and...

she plays a maid/servant. I could be wrong because this was on silent at a party I was at last week. However, I was casually watching it because there wasn't much else to do, and the first black person I saw in the film was serving food at an all white dinner party! WTF!? Correct me if I'm wrong on this and please provide the time in the film when another African-American is in the shot (and not just as some random extra, unless they're relegated to a role such as "janitor" or "aggressive jock.") I'm not really trying to find fault in this movie, or claim that it's racist, but it's something that caught my eye. But come on...casting an African-American as a servant??? This was made in 2003.
Thank you.

If I recall correctly (and it's been a while since I saw the movie), that was part of the awkwardness of that scene. Moore's character's family were being introduced to the WASP-y inlaws, and the WASP mom makes a comment that the black maid practically raised the white mom's son, and Moore's character's mother says something like "Oh, I didn't know you were a working mother" and the white mom goes "...I wasn't." And then everyone looked uncomfortable. It was a purposefully awkward scene because of the antiquated racial roles of the situation.

"And then he started cheating...especially at magnetic travel scrabble."
