Sara Desson novels

Has anyone out there ever read any books by Sara Desson other than How to Deal? The only other one I've read is Dreamland...I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!! So now she is one of my favorite authors. But I wanna know what other books there are by her.

I've read This Lullaby. It's pretty good. Very unlike all of her other novels. The main character, Remy, is the popular beautiful girl who drinks, smokes, and sleeps around. There's a lot of swearing, they've graduated from high school after all, but it's a good book.

Keeping the Moon is okay. But I found it kinda hard to like the main character. And the guy she's supposed to fall in love with. The theme of the book is good though.

Also, if you haven't yet, read Meg Cabot. She is hilarious, not as good a novel writer as Sarrah Dessen, but absolutely hilarious. My favorite of hers are "The Boy Next Door," "The Princess Diaries" (series), and "Haunted" (also a series, yet under a different name).

Right now I'm reading Keeping the Moon but I'm only at the beginning so I don't know if I like the main character or not. And I REALLY wanna read This Lullaby but I can only find it in hard back right now and I don't wanna pay 15.00 for it. So I'll wait till it comes to paperback.

She does not smoke, drink or sleep around.

How To Deal isn't a novel. it's a combination of That Summer and Someone Like You (both were amazing books)... i'm a little confused that you seem to be regarding how to deal as a novel, though.

well, not really. they packaged 'someone like you' and 'that summer' together with a movie cover and called it 'how to deal.' unless of course you're talking about something else i haven't seen--in which case, do you have a link? it'd be interesting to read. :D

reply

No if you look closer at the book How to Deal (because I own it) you see that inside it is both That Summer and Someone Like You inside. It's both novels printed into one book with the title How to Deal on the cover.

reply

The OP probably thought "How to Deal" was a novel because there's a book out there that says How to deal on the cover and it has both Someone like you and That Summer in it.

The Truth About Forever is one of Sarah Dessen's newest novels. It is really good.

reply

Sarah Dessen is her name. I've read all of her novels and they are all exceptionally writen. I LOVE them!

reply

I have read all of them except her newest one...I tried but I couldn't get absorbed in it at the time. My absolute favorite is This Lullaby, but I like Keeping the Moon too. I can very much relate to the main character in that one...

Sarah was my creative writing professor in college, so it's nice to see her getting some praise here. I wasn't that fond of the movie-- I agree the novels are much better-- but aren't they always? ;)

reply

I've read all her books. I just finished Keeping the Moon. Dreamland is by far her best book, I really hope someone makes a movie out of that because I'd love to see it on film. If I knew how to write screenplays, I'd start on it right away.

Love is an accident...waiting to happen

Read them all, loved them all. They're just so absorbing! Every time I find a new one I simply can't put it down, and my family can't talk to me for two days because I'm just… gone.

It's almost as bad as my Harry Potter obsession.

I think for sure The Truth About Forever is my favorite thus far, but I loved This Lullaby also. I greatly enjoyed Dreamland but it honestly scared me to the point I almost couldn't finish it! To be Caitlin's position. How funny, girls always say that they wouldn't stand for a man who hurt them, emotionally, or physically, yet after reading that I realized that it's possible to be so blinded by love you can't get away.

Sarah's novels are bright, witty, honest and real. They touch true human nerves, and most importantly your heart. To whomever said she was their Creative Writing Prof...I am insanely jealous, I would love to learn from someone so talented.
