Who else should have been there?

My dream list, limited to people who were alive and established musicicans in 1993:

Ray Charles doing "Blind Willie McTell", which one have been one of the most sublime moments in human history.

Richard Thompson- "Tangled Up in Blue"

Rod Steward- "Simple Twist of Fate"

U2- "This Wheel's On Fire"

Paul Mcartney- "Forever Young"

Van Morrison- "Tough Mama"

Plant/Page and Jones- "One More Cup of Coffee"

The Staple Singers- "Serve Somebody"

Bonnie Rait- "Buckets of Rain" doing a nice slide guitar

Peter Gabriel with Kate Bush- "Oh Sister", Robbie Robertson on guitar

David Bowie- "Ballad of a Thin Man"

Artetha Franklin- "Every Grain of Sand"

Sting with his jazz band- "Changing of the Guard"

Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band- "Most Likely You'll Go Your Way and I'll Go Mine"

Prince- "When the Night Comes Falling from the Sky"

Joan Baez- "Mama You've Been on my Mind"

The Replacements- "Maggie's Farm"

The Rolling Stones- " It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry"

I can name a few that SHOULDNT have been there... Melloncamp for one springs to mind. I would have liked to seen ALL of the perfomers that had played that night (like George Thorogood).

My faves (in no particular order)...

Nanci Griffith
Tom Petty
Ron Wood
Eddie Vedder
Johnny Winter
Neil Young
Eric Clapton

and of course the brilliant
Mr. Richie Havens

Robbie Robertson shoulda been there for sure.

Anybody from the old folk days to represent that period in his carreer (Baez, Neurwith, Seeger, Arlo, Muldaur, Van Ronk... anybody!)

Rod Stewart would have been nice, as he's sung some Dylan tunes mighy well.

Same goes for Dion DiMucci.

Roy Orbison probably would have come if he'd been alive, and he would probably have stolen the show like he always has.

And, even though Pearl Jam did a surprsingly good performance, I wish a beter band would have represented the younger generation, like say Nirvana, or Sonic Youth (who did spectacular covers of Dylan tunes).

Super-Dylan-fans superstars like U2 or Springsteen would have been cool.
