Couldn't see the screen clearly through the tears. :P
Good movie. I avoid Burton's work like plague these days since every bloody movie of his needs to have awful dance and song sequences (the ones I have liked, like Scissorhands and Sleepy Hollow weren't musical). I wonder how many movies like this he has created.

shareI'll admit I tear up when I see it too but like most films, either it resonates with you or it doesn't. For me, the ending represents a son who finally understands and accepts his father for the man he was. Since that story speaks to my personal experience, I love this film. However, if someone watches this film and does not relate to an experience such as mine, I can understand the criticism.

I rarely weep at movies, but this is one of the few exceptions. It just hits me, probably bc I have a very good relationship with my father, and just thinking about the day he'll pass makes me tear up. Also he's an avid fisherman, and I'm his only son that followed him in those footsteps.
