This film is (I suppose)quite slow for a film but I think it needs to be to understand where its coming from. I especially love the gentle ending where Ellen is in the park waiting for Kathy and tells her that she wants to be with her. The whole thing is agonising...right from the beginning. I thought it was a great film. The lead characters were great including Ellen's son.

shareI agree with both of you on this, I too wish it was out on DVD. I looked at the film from Victor and his father's view point in as much both of them were between Kathy and Ellen hence the title. The film is also very evocative of childhood and I related very much with Victor and his friend.
Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.
It is out on dvd in both R1 and R2 try ebay or amazon.

i had this movie playing in the background...in the end when the boy and his mum are leaving on the train, are they going to the teacher?
Yes. You hear the station announcer mention the name of the place she moved to. They are off to see/be with Kathy.
