Films on the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s

I'd like to list the films which cover the AIDS epidemic, especially the 1980s.

Please add any that I have not listed here:

And the Band Played On (1993) imdb.com/title/tt0106273

We Were Here (2011) imdb.com/title/tt1787837

This lovely, warm-hearted documentary is now on Netflix, Amazon Instant and Prime, and DVD. Here is the Amazon Instant link: amazon.com/gp/product/B007VG24HS

Longtime Companion (1989) imdb.com/title/tt0100049

Angels in America (2003)

I'm not sure what qualifies as "covering" the epidemic, as there are so many aspects of the experience, but Parting Glances (1986) may be one of the first feature films to include a person with AIDS among the leading characters, in this case Steve Buscemi as Nick.

That's pretty early, film-wise. Thanks.

And the Band Played On is the best one of the bunch there. Ian McKellan in one of his earlier movie roles.

Yes, it's an excellent movie, isn't it?

Definitely. It's underrated.

You should give the book a try. Excellent read. The Normal Heart is coming to HBO in 2014. How to survive a Plague was another great doc.

I've heard the Academy Award nominated Dallas Buyers Club is pretty good.

Thanks, Jimmy, I'll look into that.

Check out TEST, excellent 2014 film about ballet dancers in San Francisco circa 1985, when the first HIV test came out.

VITO, documentary about Vito Russo, film historian and AIDS activist. Some important and informative archival footage.

JEFFREY is a romantic comedy/drama about a man giving up sex for fear of contracting AIDS, set in the late 80's. It is hurt by straight actor Steven Weber in the lead role, who can't play gay to save his life, but Michael T. Weiss is wonderful and Patrick Stewart is a camp (and later heartbreaking) hoot.
