Is not correct. It was not plain fields, napoleon army was not splintered because Wellington was running. And napoleon certainly didnt loose because of the battle place.

Even comparing the two does not make any sense.

I think they condensed/modified the story to make an example out of Santa Anna's self declaration as "The Napoleon of the West". No, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense but does explain that history - and often great people - fall because of simple mistakes, when arrogance overpowers logic.

Besides, assuming Houston actually did make the comparison, it doesn't matter whether it was true but whether Houston believed it was true.
