Davy Crockett captured and killed after the battle?

Is there any historical validity in how the movie shows Davy Crockett's death? Surely if he bayoneted as shown, there would be eye-witness accounts?

reply

There are conflicting accounts of Crockett's death, but nothing definitive. Most experts say he died in the battle, others say he was the last survivor and was killed after the battle concluded.

You could have 99 accounts that state Crockett died in the fighting, and one account that said he surrendered and was executed, and revisionist historians with political agendas will seize on the surrender story as the concrete truth.

reply

Either way he was a hero and larger than life.
