Five wonderful seasons. What comes after only seems loosely connected. Animation changed (downgraded), setting changed, characters change. Even opener changed. There's a full story with seasons 1-5, concluding with the destruction of the Tengu Shredder. It all wraps up there. I don't recognize the other 'seasons' or even the Turtles Forever movie as it's simply not the same show.

Comics often have side stories that are just fun little side stories that don't really relate to the main body of work. That's how I see the last two seasons. Season 5 is the finale, the final shindig, seasons 6 and 7 are the afterparty, the little side dishes to the main course that one may or may not accept. They've got some distant relation, but not directly connected.
