Has a Couple of Really Good Scenes

For being a TV movie which means it's been focus tested to death, it has some unusually good moments.

The line for Dean's blonde 2nd wife, "You've never been loved like that before, I know it." is really good, and gets beneath the surface that the film only wants to explore. Also Jerry's new infidelity where he confronts Dean about loyalty (the exterior fountain location)...this explains why each man won't be true when the time comes for honesty. Man, this is beyond the usual TV movie-biopic mission.

However the scene in the hospital where Jer confesses his partner-love...this is so old and hacky; hasn't there been 10,000 scenes just like it that we've all watched over and over endlessly already? Nutin' new there, folks.

I'm no Jerry or Dean lover, but their partnership was genius, and it's being recreated by folks who's last job was selling Snickers to people in China...so you can't expect any level of brilliance. You're lucky if they can just keep the camera in focus. So for those scenes I mentioned and one or two others (Dean cautions Jer about his behaviour around mobster-killers for example) it was worth watching. But the real TV appearances by this pair well beat out any other figuring done by the less-than-great generation.
