Awesome anime, MAJOR plot hole

Yeah, this thing ranks way up there with Green Legend Ran in my eyes, but there's one thing that alludes me... If the baddies from the future can time travel, why don't they do it all the time? Time travel seems much more powerful than a big floating fortress. And imagine all the water they could steal from the past.

I bet if they could, they would do it. But, travelling takes probably a lot of energy they dont have... Besides, they would have to fight in a new, unknown world, which would make them more vurnerable.

I'm not sure if they are travelling to different planets, times, or alternate dimensions, but using the equipment seems to use a great amount of energy. Presumably, they would be expending as much or more water powering the machines as the space displacement equipment could bring in. No hard facts to offer in support of this reasoning, but it makes sense.

Not much to add as someone pretty much summed it up, if you recall at the end they are able to teleport Shu back to his world but it appears that this is after they have the water. More than likely as someone said this takes a lot of resources to use and is only used in extreme cases, perhaps there is a limit to what they can teleport as well, even then we're not sure if it's necessarily time travel or traveling via dimensions or teleportation. From what is mentioned they say "from your world" so I would assume perhaps a different dimension or planet although the beginning mentions something about 12 billion years so it could be an alternate Earth as well. The sun appears closer and within 12 billion years the sun would go into a dwarf state and be huge drying up everything "though some of the lands appear ok".

Everything about Teleportation makes since, but in the first episode when everyone went after LaLa-Ru they sent a whole squad through it at once. My guess its not about how much goes through the teleporter, but how long it can remain active.
