The ending was very sad but it was perfect. It is really underrated and i think more people should have watched. It was a very simple and powerful emotional anime. I really recommend to all.

I wish more people would watch it as well. It is one of the best anime I have ever seen.

After everything that happened, and for what type of series this is, I consider this a very happy ending.

I was expecting something different. I would have liked that Shu could have ended a little more mature, but he was almost the same, contrary to Sara that grew up a lot and I am not talking about his belly.

I would also say thats a very happy ending. The point is that people who had lost hope found hope again.

And as for Shus optimism not being affected by all that had passed, thats the entire POINT!! Shu is a person who remains optimistic in THE MOST dismal of circumstances. Him remaining as optimistic and cheery at the end proves that he has a spirit that is so strong it cannot, even with great effort be changed. That is the entire point that you are missing. His light cannot be dimmed like the others. I think you are missing the entire message of the story!
