Ditched story arc?- season 4

Was it just me or did it feel like they started an arc and just ditched it when they had Andy create an online dating profile (hot doc), interact with someone named hottie pilate (or something like that) and then never go on said date? I thought that the date would end up being Amy's teacher (she was in a pilates class and she even called him hot!). Even if she wasn't the online person, I thought they were going to take that somewhere. Maybe they ran out of time. I did think it would be hard to show that relationship start and stop before the finale so I'm kind of glad they didn't see it out, but at the same time... was it their original intention to do something there?

I know he canceled the date like twice, but I really thought we'd see it play out in another episode.

The point of that particular episode was, I think, just to show that Andy's life is too damned busy to attempt dating. It was their way of putting all dating attempts with him to rest. It wasn't a ditched story arc so much as an explanation of why no dating story arcs.

"I said no camels, that's five camels, can't you count?"

I agree. I can understand why someone like Andy might dabble in the whole online dating thing, especially with his daughter there to help him create a profile and everything, but ultimately, his life was too hectic to actually devote time to it.

Besides, at that point, Andy had realized that Nina was "the one," and even though she was with Jake, Andy still had hope for a relationship with her. If the show had continued for several more seasons, we may have seen Andy try to date.

Maybe they could have added another episode, but I thought season 4 focused more on Andy being single. He'd had a few bad relationships, and he needed to focus on his own life and realizing that he was truly in love with Nina.

I think having him online date would have taken too much out of that^ storyline.

A rose is just a rose.
