Hannah and Amy are so very annoying!

I really like "Everwood" and am now on the fourth series, but I am afraid I have to add one note of dissent among all of the deserving praise.

I find Amy and especially Hannah, extremely annoying! The way these two act all crazy and ditzy when they get themselves into a state over relationships or any number of other things just irritates the hell out of me! And don't even get me started on Hannah's voice...like a little squeaky mouse!

Luckily for me, "Everwood" has strong storylines which are well constructed and well acted so I have no problem sticking with it and enjoying most of it...I just turn the volume down a little when Amy and Hannah get going on one of their little episodes!

I think this is one of the reasons I probably stopped watching Everwood. I watched a couple of episodes when the series first started on tv, but I never liked Amy and how she came across.

Oh, I loved Amy and Hannah. But I will admit I found Hannah a little annoying at times. No character on the show is perfect, but for some reason I find them all likable. It must be the strong writing.

I always liked how both characters came over. I respect your opinions.

Same here. I loved Hannah; she seemed quirky, naive and cute all at the same time. It was adorable, and I esp loved Hannah/Bright.

Amy...at first I had an on/off liking for her. She was *too* dedicated to Colin, didn't give Ephram a chance...and the whole Tommy thing in s2 where she was being a spoiled brat to her parents ticked me off. But then in season 3, I absolutely loved Amy. She was like, the most caring girlfriend ever, and the best daughter. I loved Amy.

Hannah was annoying. I remember I stopped watching at around the time she became a regular. I thought it was only correlational at the time, but she could have been the causal.

I like both of them. I will put here two links to two of my favorite moments of the show. If you haven't finished watching the whole show, don't watch it or do it at your own risk!

Hannah's would you take a shower with me? It was a shower and not shower sex. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeAD_nnoZsw

Amy's I am not over you, I am over it! I can't keep crying over you... 'cause we were never friends http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbwlodiTtdc

I personally prefer Hannah over Amy. Yes, she may have a slightly annoying voice, but at least she knows how to treat people, whereas Amy just treats everybody like dirt, especially the people who really care about her.

reply

I tend to agree with this last statement the best. Hannah was more considerate in general. Amy was kind of self-centered in some form in every season just about.

I like Amy. I know she's a bit controlling, and manipulative, and all but I think that's her charm. I also like Hannah, I may not agree with her religious views, or political ones either but I still like the character.

I loved Amy and liked Hannah. S2 Amy was the most annoying because she had to go thru what she did when she lost Colin.
What annoyed me about Hannah was her mannerisms. The way the actress played her at times was near hysterical which was often grating.

Hannah and Amy acted like normal teen age girls, a little ditzy.

They sort of made fun of that when Bright picks up Hannah From the airport and when Bright arrives home and Amy runs out of the house and all you here is a lot of gibberish and squealing. The look on Bright's face was priceless.

The Bright / Hannah shower scene one of the best on the show or on any show.

reply

I preferred Hannah to Amy, mainly due to the fact that she is kinder and perhaps also because we got to see less of her.

Amy was quite annoying in parts of season one, very annoying throughout most of season two, had a great presence in season three and was mostly annoying again in season four.

It kind of sounds worse than it was, seeing how I generally enjoyed all characters. Ah, well!

Exactly true, and also applicable to the comments expressing dislike of Amy because of her selfishness. She was a teenage girl! I don't know where these people live where teenage girls are selfless, holy creatures who always put the needs and wants of others ahead of their own. Certainly not in the same world my teenager daughter lives in. It's a bit tiresome when characters are criticized for having realistic characteristics.

I'm a HUGE Emily VanCamp fan, I love the girl to death and think she is cute as a button and even I found Amy to be insufferable. She was extraordinarily selfish. I started watching for Emily but Bright really became my favourite character.

Hannah was awful. Absolutely terrible. I wanted to punch her in the face several times. I mean her introduction pretty much marked the downfall of the show.

I didn't mind Amy most of the time. In Season 2 she probably hit the height of her annoyance with just being a total dick to her entire family, but she leveled out a lot especially after she started dating Ephram.

I'm not a fan of Amy. When she's not rebelling, she comes off as incredibly pretentious.
