What? (SPOILERS)

So let me get this straight …. If I were to synopsize the story in a few paragraphs:

Guts is some super badass – pretty much the best the best fighter ever, and it’s great how you notice his sword gets bigger and bigger as the series goes on, watching him when he’s practicing wielding it constantly w one arm is awesome

He rolls up with Griffith, and Griffith is even more badass at first. Super inspirational, good looking, everybody wants to help him achieve his dream of running his own kingdom. He has some great speeches and rallies to get his men to fight for him… but he has this “Bailot” thing that he wears around his neck, it’s really creepy and keeps randomly saving him. He has some sort of sixth sense about who his friends and enemies are, able to play everything perfectly. However if you pay attention, he’s very manipulative of people in order to keep advancing up through the ranks of life. Especially of Guts who becomes such a badass that he can pretty much blow through any number of enemies(although he’s not quite as good at assassination, as he mucks up when Griffith asks him to kill the general guy).

There’s also some weird things that happen with this super strong demon guy(can't remember it's name), he fights Guts & Griffith, pretty much beat’s them, then gets scared away from the bailot that Griffith is wearing. He also warns Guts that Griffith will betray him in the worst way possible… which yeah he pretty much does… he also randomly saves Guts in some battle by throwing him his sword right when he needs it.

Griffith ends up moving through the ranks, winning every battle, but he screws up after Guts leaves, bangs the princess, gets thrown in prison, tortured for a long time and really badly, then rescued by some of the Hawks so that he can lead again.

Then the last episodes happen … oh man it gets crazy … so it turns out this bailot that Griffith has was some special bailot that is supposed to make him the Demon King or something, and there’s these crazy demon entities (Blue woman, those guys with weird fat faces, brainhead guy) that raise up this demon army when the solar eclipse happens, transport the band of hawks to this demon world, and Griffith makes the choice to sacrifice the band of the hawks to feed into his energy to become this demon king(bricks in the cobblestone). The demons all kill the Band, and Griffith rapes Caska in front of Guts as the ultimate act of betrayal.

SO you have to watch the first episode again to see what happens, as it takes place after ep 25 … it’s all real, not just some terrible dream … Somehow Guts escapes after watching robo/demon-griffith rape caska. Guts does lose his arm, but now he’s lodged some sweet crossbow weapon into his arm, and he still has his right arm to wield his ridiculously huge sword. He ruins some clowns in some village, then he draws out this demon lord who is one of Griffiths Barons/apostles? – you hear them refer to King Griffith, so after all of the demon world stuff, Griffith does come back and become King, and the world goes to crap… Guts kills crazy demon Baron, then probably continues hunting down Griffith from there…

So did I get this story right? Im only going off the dubbed anime, although it sounds like the manga explains things a lot more. Wow, that was some show. Griffith was so cool and inspirational too, I was really digging him and enjoyed his dialogue. That was so horrible what happened at the end - The crazy ass terrible demons that came out, killing everybody that gave everything for him in probably the worst way possible - eugh.

Why do you think the show's called “Berserk”? Hearing that title made me think it was going to be about this guy going crazy, and I guess it kind of was?

Couple other questions:

What exactly does the intro of each episode have to do with the story?

"In this world, is the destiny of mankind controlled by some transcendental entity or law ... is it like the hand of God hovering above. At least it is true, that man has no control, even over his own will."

Is it that these Demon gods are manipulating and controlling everything, pulling the puppet strings? Does this reflect on our real world in some way?

And how the heck does the intro song fit into all of this? Are these lyrics meaningful in some way?

Yeah, you basically got the plot. The anime only covers the Golden Age arc, though, and that's only one part of the series, which is much more horror and fantasy themed. There's a new series coming out this summer that covers the stuff afterwords.

It's called Berserk because of Guts' uncontrollable and insatiable rage in battle. Hell, he even gets a "fetish" (a magical item) called the Berserker Armor later on.

As for that quote in the intro, it is true in Berserk. But those main demons that transform Griffith (called the Godhand) are not the ones that control fate. They say themselves in the manga and the new movie that they are not gods (they answer to a higher calling). It is possible that fate can be fought, as Guts shows when he becomes the Black Swordsman.

So, does that answer your questions?

yea man haha wtf its the only anime i like but it shouldve avoided nudity, the princess' personality(always hyped, highpitchvoice, humble cute shy), caskas backflip in forest (wtf), and that shady band of hawks guy who didnt like Guts (i liked him but why was he one of their leaders and especially since he always was 50% evil, 50% comic relief idk but very good series i gave it 9/10)

Btw new season this summer??

I know this is an old post, but after the Eclipse at the end of the show, that's when it get really dark, and sometimes REALLY disturbing.
