Hard to watch...

Jesus, whoever thought of this must have been severly messed up. Its pretty intresting show, but it just rapes characters (some of them literly) and it makes you feel sorry for them. The way they ended it was just painful.

The torture of Griffith and his turn to the dark side, Casca getting raped by her hero in front of Guts, Guts watching the rape of Casca while loosing his arm and an eye and before that the death of the whole Band of the Hawk.

I understand this is hardly the happy ending world, but damn... They completly smashed their characters and some good characters at that!

There's a lot more to it than what you see in the anime. Remember this is just one arc from the manga that is still ongoing.

And to think, this was the bowdlerized version. The original manga is much more graphic... and rapey.

can i get some opinons on this questions please

Was it always griffiths plan to sacrifice the band of the hawk from the beginning
Was he feigning ignorance over not knowing what the behelit's purpose did he know it had to be close friends/loved ones he had to sacrifice was and did Guts leaving the band force him into this line of action which he may not have done otherwise.

I have read up to date from where the show left in the menga so i dont know if I missed something in the menga I havnt read ect or is it just all conjecture because obviously he always says it was his dream to accomplish it no matter what how many pawns he sacrifices

This answer may come a few years late, but no, Griffith didn't plan anything. He just felt so betrayed by Guts that he didn't give a *beep* about anyone anymore. The torture really affected him emotionally, mentally and physically and he blamed Guts for that. That is also the reason why he rapes Casca.

There was a scene in the manga that was taken out of new editions, b/c the author thought it told too much too soon. In the scene Griffith meets "God" who controls the fates of people, and told him that this is what Griffith's heart truly wanted, and if it wasn't, then he wouldn't have encountered the red behelit in the lake near the end of the show.

And if you are caught up, then you know how Griffith feels about the old Band of the Hawk, and that when he was human, he always wanted his kingdom no matter how many died to build it. And as the other poster said, it was Guts trying to console him that finally made him snap and summon the God Hand, which is why after he tried to kill himself he told Gut's not to touch him or else...

Judging by your rant, you should stop watching anime. Or japanese stories. They are realistic and graphic. And most of them violent and gory. This is the reason people like them, you can root and feel for those characters. They feel alive.
Also I am sure all of this happened so we can truly understand how Guts became the Black swordsman and why he is so full of hate.
