I'm looking for another anime like this one. But I mean the kind that opens your heart and then rips it apart or at least mattered to you when it was over. I'm not strictly suggesting medieval anime in particular or good fighting scenes. I want an emotional stressful anime like Berserk. The kind that gets in your head.
I actually read the Manga to see what happens next and I don't even read manga.
So if you can think of something that had an impression on you I wanna know. I'm open to whatever. Any genre is okay.

There is very little that's up to Berserk's level.

There are a few imitators that are enjoyable, "Claymore" is alright, and perhaps even "Fate/Zero". But those are shounen material (friendship is magic, blah blah). Most 'adult' anime (that isn't hentai) is usually of a different genre.

Urotsukidoji actually has a good story if you can look past all the porn

didn't want to mention Neon Genesis Evangelion but it's a classic

I've watched several thousand titles and I've never seen anything that is quite like the eldritch horror of Berserk. But for cerebral, emotionally challenging suggestions, I hope those help if you haven't seen them.

Try watching "Monster". It is currently in my backlog list.

This is nothing like Berserk. Its the slowest paced pos I've ever seen. The entire premise is just silly too.
