It's just so boring (at least the first half)

I have wanted to watch this movie since it came out, but never got around to it. McConaughey is charismatic, Zahn is usually funny, and it looked like a fun blockbuster adventure flick. I finally watched it last night could not get into it.

My main problem with is is it takes so damn long to get going. It felt like nothing was happening for like 45 minutes. The action sequences felt so scripted and lacked tension, so they did nothing to keep my interest, and almost every line of dialogue was dull. I expected some humor or exciting action and I couldn't believe how little it had.

To be fair, I only watched about half of it, but that's saying something. In the past 5 years there's only 4 other movies I can think of that I couldn't finish: Crossover, The Fog (2005 "Remake"), Porky's: The Next Day, and Deep In The Valley (despite my Chris Pratt fandom).

Like you, I have wanted to see this one for a while. I like action movies that have a sense of adventure. I also like treasure hunter stuff. This looked like The Mummy, National Treasure, or even Indiana Jones, all of which I like.

I disagree with you on this movie though. I thought it was a lot of fun. It was exactly what I was hoping it would be: the perfect adventure film. It had action, laughs, adventure, and romance.

That action sequences fall very flat in this movie. They just don't have that visceral edge and sense of danger.
