NOW TWO OSCAR WINNERS

SAHARA is just more appreciated with age and still, to this day, unjustly maligned by some when, in fact, it is a solid action film which accurately shows the world of Clive Cussler. Cussler, as most of us know, hated the film, but, frankly, with an ego as big as his, it's a wonder he signed a movie contract to begin with. A contract, by the way, he did NOT honor.

But now, SAHARA boasts not one, but TWO, Oscar winners. Penelope Cruz, who won Best Supporting Actress for the Woody Allen film VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA, the first Spanish actress to do so, and ,of course, the great Matt McConaughey for THE DALLAS BUYERS CLUB. So much for the naysayers who say neither can act.

As result, SAHARA is popping up on all kinds of movie channels in honor of McConaughey's win. I personally hope that bugs the crap out of Cussler.

Not to mention William H. Macy who was nominated for Fargo.

I'll never claim this is a great movie, but it's a fun movie. It kept the spirit of the book, and that's really what I cared about.

And who was comically splendid in the role of Admiral Sandecker, effortlessly stealing scenes IMO.🐭
