great movie but...

Every time a girl was trying to escape she was making a lot of noise cause they had to go down the stairs and they ran with their shoes. I was like "FOR *beep* SAKE JUST TAKE OUT YOUR SHOES AND ESCAPE SILENTLY".

Also the outside gate is their size they just have to run or silently disappear during the day (just like one does during the sport event)and climb that *beep* gate or just climb any part not high and hidden...

That was for the movie part, now in reality does anyone know: was it hard or not to escape from such a place?

Remember Margaret when she opens the gate and doesn't leave? She knows that the church controls all of Ireland, not just the asylum. Remember it's her own family who sent her there, so most of the girls probably thought life was no easier outside.

reply

Exactly, it was only easy if they had somewhere to go. Bernadette had a cousin who she knew would support her but Margaret thought she had no one... until her brother showed up.

Ashmi any question

reply

I was so happy that her brother came.

reply

Glad it wasn't just me who thought this!

The shoes and banging the doors! How the heck did the nuns not hear all of that going on?

reply

In all honesty, with these girls as desperate as they were, I doubt they were thinking about their shoes and the noise. All they cared about was getting out, and doing so as fast as they could.

reply

I thought they were making too much noise too. That girl was dumb to not get in the car, but I understand her hesitation.

reply

I also wondered why they didnt take off their shoes! The shoes made a lot of noise.

It's clear that they're not experts in planning. After all, BERNADETTE and that boy wanted to escape even after admitting they had no money and no place to go.

I'm pretty sure they had locked doors and all, but not wired fences. It wasn't an actual prison. Besides, I think the nuns knew that smart girls wouldn't try to leave.
