How long were Bernadette and Rose held there?

It was at least 2 years. Was it more?

Bernadette was a orphan but was transferred to the asylum for being pretty. Had she not escaped she would have died there. Rose was a fallen woman and until someone came for her she also would have died there.

I keep thinking about this. There is no showing for repeat holidays or visible sign of aging on the women. So knowing the time line is almost impossible. When they did finally escape they were still young looking. So I am thinking as short as 2 year but possibly as long as 5 years.

I remember one of them saying that she had been there for four years.

If you remember, the 3 girls arrived together. The first one to leave was taken back home by her brother. We know she'd been there 4 years because she yelled at him asking why it took him 4 years to come get her. The other two seemed to escape shortly thereafter, together. So 4+ years for them?
