DVD Music Replacement

I've just discovered today that the original music was replaced for the DVD version. Had I known this beforehand I would not have bought the series on DVD in protest against this all too common practise.

Admittedly I never watched this show with the original music but somehow I do still feel a little cheated (having seen movies that have done this and witnessed first hand the loss of the original quality and feel in the process).

Should a new DVD be released with the original music I will be repurchasing it to watch later on, grudgingly of course, having to spend more money than I should have in the first place.

So, buyer beware; this is a great series regardless of the music but if you can, don't purchase it new, download it or buy it used and email Paramount saying you have and why.

I understand this thread's been done before by others but as part of my protest against Paramount and this practise I've made this new one to keep it near the top.

Why does this bother so many people?

WHAT?!!!

No, come on, it's nothing like that at all.

Oh, come ON!
The music is chosen to enhance a scene; substitute the music and you're watching something else entirely. It's one of the elements that contributes to this show's being so cool.
Keen Eddie, with the original music, is currently being shown on the Sleuth channel, 7 PM EST on Sundays and various other times throughout the week.

That seems to be the general consensus.

I'm apparently in the minority - in that I never even noticed that the music had been changed. And I'd seen the whole series prior to buying it.

I mustn't be that music-oriented.

You need to read Amazon product reviews before buying; a number of reviewers noted this which is why I didn't buy it.

I watched the show several years ago on cable TV when it was in reruns. I enjoyed it, so I bought the DVD set. Frankly, I can't even remember what dated pop music was used in the original airing. Its absence does not affect the series at all. Buy the DVDs and enjoy the show.
