Bernie was far too generous!

In the scene where Mikey told his father how they were strapped for
money and he asked Bernie for a financial contribution towards
his grandson's future. Well in my honest opinion Bernie was far
too generous to have given his son such a huge amount of cash.
Bernie took the roll of bills from his pantry and told Mikey
that it's nearly three grand, WTF! He could have given them much
less and between one thousand to fifteen hundred dollars would
have been more than sufficient. Of course Bernie and Mikey had
not seen one another in years and he did not know that his son
had become quite a con man though Bernie was much too generous
with his cash donation!
