big goof for location

it is made clear that this is set in miami. but there are no buildings like the ones alex and emma live in miami. those types of buildings are clearly new york style apartments (see the building where carrie of sex and the city lives, the apt on the show 227 etc) ......guess it was cheaper to use a NY street set. also miami metro busses don't look like that they aren't that rounded shape and have blue and green strips not red and yellow.

Boston. It's Boston.

Jamaica Plain, Boston Duck Tours, Red Sox...

reply

...john hancock building, the prudential center...

reply

were you joking when you said you thought the movie was in miami? if not, you are officially the dumbest human being alive. i can't believe how stupid you are. go eat another donut.

reply

I doubt that you, bikemike27, are capable of saying anything that is not an insult. Insults are extremely easy to do, even for the least intelligent people.

reply

Yeah, the Boston Duck Tours, kind of make sure that the viewer knows the movie is set in Boston, not to mention, Red Soxs and about 10 other Bostonian references.

reply

I think that superdupere assumed Miami because of the Cubanos. I am from Miami & it took a lot of the Bostonian references for me to get that.

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.

I do like "Is there another Cambridge Street?" (because there is)...

reply

Ah, I don't know why but it felt so good seeing Luke and Kate strolling through the Public Gardens and taking a Duck Boat ride down the Charles River and just being amongst all these places that are oh so familiar to me. I can't wait to see Fever Pitch. Yay for Boston!

If you think Jacko's not so Wacko, make this part of your siggy!

"What the deuce?"

reply

it is made clear that this is set in miami.

I know why you might assume it took place in Miami. When Alex is talking to his editor, he says he lost all his money at the dog tracks in Hialeah (which is in Miami...unless there's a Hialeah in Boston too, I'm not sure I've never been). But it certainly seems he was just visiting Miami (maybe tutoring Polina's children in "real-life?"), because the story we see, with him and Emma, has Boston all over the place, as pointed out by others here

reply

Didn't Emma say she lives in Jamaica Plains (which is outside of NYC)? Also, didn't Alex say his novel was set on an island off the coast of Maine? If so, it didn't look anything like the cold, rocky islands there. It isn't even that warm in the summer, or that much sun usually--looked more like the Cape, possibly, or someplace further south.

reply

Jamaica Plain is near Boston -- Jamaica is in Queens, NY. Where he lives Is like a computer generated street, the one that "looks like NY". Some scenes are in Boston, but his house and others have NY style stoops.

reply

There is a Jamaica Plains outside of both cities.

reply

Most definitely Boston. Not sure what part of that movie screamed "Miami" to you, but it really wasn't.

Before making a post like this, look at the Filming Locations, as in http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0318283/locations?ref_=tt_ql_dt_6
