After a 2nd viewing...
I just rewatched it all on DVD again. And I have to say, the writers really dropped the ball about a third of the way into the season. There were too many episodes that were only narrowly related to the overall mythology. The premise is very, very cool. The cast is great. And we all know that Coto can do really great things. They should've spent more time on the meat of the show's premise, rather than drawing it out with barely relative storylines.
Also, there were several instances of dead bodies that would've been a huge problem plot-wise...and they conveniently disappear - as well as the fact that three world-famous astronauts, a world-reknown scientist, and a regional celebrity spend at least a few minutes in every episode blatantly breaking the law, falling out of windows in public, or firing guns in suburban neighborhoods...
I really liked the show. But ultimately I can see why it struggled. It'd be nice to see some novels published to finish up the story.
