Halfway through now and all I can say is I am completely lost. So as I see it now the synthetics are or were actual humans that somehow got infected with nano bots. I did notice that Taggart said he blow the sentients world up instead of joining them which of course leads me to thought that Maybe Taggart's team might blow the world up rather than letting the synthetics take over. Doesn't seem possible but he did say it.
We have also learned that Mark is a super duper douche bag. spying on pop to cheat at nasa....nice.
It would have been nice if old chuck had at least finished the remodeling job in the house before he fixed himself, did he just plug the antenna into his arm and much like a gps type in the return home / make human again command and off the little bots go. Also that begs the question, can all the other synthetics be made human? Even the ones made in the goo?
We once again dredge up the old Sara stuff, I found it the least favarable thing about this show and just want to fast foward through it every time something involving this comes up. I didn't understand why the question never arose about where she got the drug, that should have been illegal.
Then comes the big ending with our buddy Kurt making his own synthetic. What the hell is that all about? Possible reprogram to help the humans?
All in all not bad, I give it a 6 on the 05 scale.

Well, the good news is that what little we get of the Sarah drama is the inevitable playing itself out. Getting itself over with? One can only hope. At least it was what was obviously going to happen that she brought on herself.

Those sentients are a wicked bunch. Now they even have a nanobot infection that turns people into synthetics. Figures that a sentient would want to be God to all of it's synthetics.

Nice triumph of the human spirit in Chuck going to the synthetic's lair, getting just the information he needed and coming back to reprogram the nanos infecting him to reverse their activities and turn him back.

For some reason that whole nanobot bit reminds me for all the world of the Borg from the latter Star Treks.

As for the end, yeah, Paige probably knows better than the "other woman" theory but isn't holding on to it for fear that his fantastic (if true within the story) tale might be true like he said, but rather that her husband may have gone completely insane.

Oh no! Now Kurt is going Frankenstein on us and growing a synthetic of his very own, probably from the tissue sample he got from Chuck at his worst phase. This can't be good.

All in all, it was an OK ep. I'll give it a 6 as well.

Cool is irrelevant. I'm over 40.

Yeah I was thinking that as well. Didn't they reprogram nanobots or code or something in Voyager that wiped them out?

I really liked this episode and enjoyed it very much even after not having resisted and having read your reviews full of spoilers. Perhaps the best episode so far.

So we had one more episode of Odyssey 4. Yes, 4, because Angela is nowhere to be seen. Are they trying to prove she's pointless to the story? Was Tamara making a movie back in 2002? Anyway I'm starting to get used to her constant absence because after her story with Kurt seemed fully developed, she seemed to have little more to do. The only thing that still saves her is whatever happens between her and her father. I think more was supposed to come out of that.

I knew what was happening to Chuck Taggart from the get-go: he was turning into Robocop! The transformation itself was something I already expected (and I think I even said something about it) when, in the first or second episode, they were controling patients of a genetic test and making them do things, like kill Ed Scrivens. Now it all makes sense. I'm glad to get some answers for a change, instead of just more questions.

The transformation back, however, was just too quickly and uneventful and I wish there had been more emotion in it, with something unexpected happening, but then they just have 48 minutes for an episode and it was time to wrap up the story. And we all know Chuck wouldn't stay a synthetic. That's the problem with putting the main character's life in jeopardy; it's hardly ever a real danger, just an adventure.

The NASA director saying to Mark that Chuck has big shoes: what, is he a clown now? Sideshow Bob? I think I might be the only one to find humor in some current American expressions everybody else is used to. Seriously now, Mark finally found a way of being useful: spying on his dad. But he's stabbing him on the back out of love - he simply won't accept the possibility of disappointing his dad, even it that costs the old man's career. Way to go, son!

I just didn't understand why Mark simply wouldn't quit when his father himself said he didn't want to be an astronaut. But then I thought a father/son relationship is always complicated and years of expectations for the "golden boy" have proven to be too much for him to handle. And I finally got my answer when his mother said, "Never let me down." That was a punch in the gut!

And I'm also starting to worry about Neil. Will he find enough time to study for the astronaut program if he's always so busy on missions to fight synths and save the world from blowing up? At least Neil's dedication in the end was rewarded, and Kurt recognized that.

I'm enjoying Sarah's drama playing itself out. Even though it previously seemed annoying and worn-out, this time I followed the events with interest with all the court procedures. I just don't understand why she's still give what's-his-name guy (the new news director) such a cold shoulder, when we know it and she knows it she's bond to end with him anyway, and he'll stand by her no matter what. And won't the kid get real sick already and end Sarah's present predicament? The way things are going so slow it looks like the brat is going to be healthy forever. How long does it take for cancer to manifest itself?

I was starting to think Chuck's wife was an annoying character, one of those that do what they are supposed to do in the real world, but we wish them to be dead, because they totally don't get they live in a sci-fi universe. Usually nagging women in the path of a hero's journey fall into that category. But then by the end of the episode she was readier to accept Chuck's fantastic time-traveling story (in other words, see the obvious which we already know to be true), so I still think there's hope for her.

And finally Kurt, oh my dear Kurt, you never cease to amaze me, and this is why you're my favorite character. After getting attached to the deaf girl, and having had a hypothetical fast-growing baby with Angela, he's developed his parenting skills, and now is fathering a synth foetus of his own. Wasn't that a sweet, touching moment? It's heart-warming family moments like this that science fiction needs more of! Go Kurt! Let your synth baby grow and be strong and bring us a lot of interesting plot twists!

All in all a great episode. I give this one a 9 in the Odyssey scale.

This Friday on Odyssey 5 epp 09: Flux

Another solid episode this week much better than last week’s presentation. The writers are doing a good job making me dislike Marc he reached new lows in try to sell his father out for a career that is doomed from the start. Is Angela gone for good? If so I will miss her she a real cutie. I feel like they are finally writing the little kid out of the show which should free up that story line. We definitely need to focus more on saving the world time is running out before their time runs out. Talk about getting a nano infection from a scratch wow what will they think of next. Chuck got lucky again having to fight off the nano bots by linking up with the head being and figuring out their programming language and re-writing the code to restore himself to his true form. Bill Gates should be proud even the synthetics use windows products just shove an antenna in your arm and away you go. Wish it was really that simple but these artificial creatures do appear to be really smart so maybe it is believable. At least for me it still doesn’t seem like they have made any real progress only more and more dangers seem to pop up from everywhere. Has anyone else noticed the change in Kurt he used to drink and chase skirt all the time? I believe he is a changed man and strictly focusing on saving our world. What are the odds we will never know what he’s doing with the embryo I have a feeling nothing will come of this story line. More questions and no answers but of course we were supposed to have five seasons not just one.

Going to give is a seven on the O5 scale.
