Does anyone CARE?

Honestly, it's as if this show didn't even EXIST! No self-promotion, no merchandise, no nothing!

I'm willing to bet that even Nick didn't like this show the moment it aired.

Does anyone even care about this post?

i do

Whooptydo, one response. Notice my sacastic tone.

Okay, you do, and the TeenBot fanbase does, but does everyone else care? I mean, if they get more laughs from a dim-witted sea sponge alone than the entire cast of TeenBot combined, it's pretty clear that most folks don't.

Let's face it, the show's dead. It's got a small fanbase, but Nick would rather sacrifice it on the altar of ratings than try to make it better than it is. That and the SpongeBob deviants would rather watch it burn.

I care about this show. It didn't deserve such disrespect. But Nickelodian doesn't think it exists. They won't even put reruns of the show on their main network! It seems as though Nickelodian is pretending it didn't exist.

It doesn't need to come back (I'd rather not have 10+ seasons like Rugrats got) but it does deserve to have a bit of merchandise.

Anyway, I care about the show too.

reply

See, that's what I'm talking about. Nick just doesn't seem to acknowledge that they have such a show, then wonder why everyone complains about their cancelling a show that they think doesn't exist.

mlaatr was my fav show. the only dvds they got is video now episodes and nick picks vol. 1-5. i am also not sure ur right about nickelodeon ignoring the show. there is a area for it on nick .com but i do agree on the no reruns opinoin. the next mlaatr episode is on x-mas day at 7:00 Am.

A single web page with no material, no actually fun games, and is horrendously outdated.

A lousy holiday episode that Nick is only showing just because of the date.

Frankly, my pal, Nick don't give a single flipping damn for this semi-lousy show.

reply

I like Teenage Robot, but I can't stand Spongebob!

reply

You've also got to take into consideration that the majority of the population are a bunch of dumbasses so its no wonder that retarded cartoons like Spongebob do so well and actually intelligent cartoons like mlaatr get cancled right away.

reply

Exactly. I only recently discovered MLaaTR (through online piracy, admittedly, 'cause I have no other means of watching it) and I love it. It's very cleverly written, it's funny, there's a good bit of action, and it's even got sentimental moments that make you love the characters even more, without overdoing the drama and making it cheesy. It just lacks the advertising, the time slot, the placement on regular cable, the merchandise, the DVDs, and everything else that makes Spongebob so damn popular. Spongebob can kiss my rump.

You're right, the majority of the nation is dumb and likes mind-numbing humor. Look at how successful Family Guy is; I mean, at one time, before being canceled, Family Guy was funny, but now that it's back, it's just stupid and yet it remains successful. South Park, which is an intelligent show that's actually surprisingly popular, did a great job owning Family Guy last year. The Simpsons is also a well-written, intelligent, and funny show that's better than Family Guy.

But anyway, that's off topic. Not enough people know about My Life as a Teenage Robot. Two of my friends recently got me into the show, and we were able to get another of our friends into the show, and we're trying to get more people to know about it. At the very least, I wish it could be released on DVD. Nickelodeon's so damn stubborn though. Just, seriously, *beep* Spongebob and all the other mind-numbing crap on Nickelodeon (not that everything is bad; I like Fairly OddParents). They're letting their best cartoons die in obscurity on NickToons Network. They had doomed Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, and Pinky and the Brain to the same fate until DVD box sets started coming out. I find that quite agitating considering those aren't even Nick's shows. I wish they'd be shown on TV again. Warner Bros. had mastered the mix of intelligent adult humor with silly kid humor in the early 90's and I'd hate for it to die in obscurity while kids these days are forced to grow up on Spongebob. Just... blegh.

Kudos to Disney, for even though they sell out every single movie they make with all the crappy sequels and all, at least they don't let anything die! Toon Disney is part of basic cable and it has all of their old cartoons from the 80's and 90's on it. Okay, I won't say they don't let anything die, but for the most part, they manage to keep stuff alive, and even though they dumb it down with new material, at least they keep the spirit of the older, better-written, more intelligent material alive for the ages. Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network could take a lesson. Fox also at least releases their shows on DVD if they decide to stop showing them (i.e. old episodes of The Simpsons, Futurama, etc.)

Kudos also to anyone who read this whole damn post. I'm done now.

I was never a huge fan of MLaaTR but it definately wasn't my least favorite show. In fact whenever it was on I watched it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to watch. Like people have said most of the episodes dealt with higher levels of problems. Rather than shows like Rocket Power which dealt with things like learning a skateboard trick or "dissing" someone for calling you a "shoobie". But anyways, reading these has made me realize. Does anyone think its weird that a show based on teenage issues was aimed at little kids? Maybe Nick wanted the show to fail right away.

reply

I remember first seeing the show when I was 14. I liked it very much. There are couple things that I didn't appreciate, but I could forgive that. I used to watch the 1st season episodes when I could. But I retired from watching cartoon shows on a regular basis after a while, since I was getting old and some of the shows that Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network release are getting old and stupid. So MLAATR was the last Nick show that I became a fan of, and I don't plan on going any further.

And to answer some questions, I think MLAATR originally debuted on Teenick. And in my personal opinion, I think the show is appealing to both kids and young teens, but I don't think kids will fully understand the Teen moments, such as social issues and such.

But yeah, I still find this an underrated show, and hope it gets a DVD release someday.

I agree. It MUST come to DVD.

It seems like people care more about this show now, than they did over 10 years ago.

reply

Because our entertainment's quality is seriously dwindling. Bridgerton is the only quality show to come out in recent years and they even stopped making that on a proper schedule.
