The first post!

I watched this after recently seeing Empire of the Sun for the first time. I figured it would make a nice companion piece. Shanghai Ghetto is very well done and poignant. The stories are moving and touching and, appropriately so, very sad. An engaging documentary. Perhaps most memorable, given the entire reason these Jewish people had to flee their homes, was that the Chinese in Shanghai never discriminated against these Westerners who were migrating to their city and crowding an already over-populated area. A beautiful testimony to humanity and the empathy of those in dire living conditions. There are some very disturbing shots near the end of the Holocaust which took place in Europe so be careful if you are susceptible to being haunted by grotesque images.
