Diana Sereni

I'm a bit confused in regards to this character. Ernesto kisses her at the end after being aware that she was not his son's religion teacher. Ernesto had suspected that she was part of the plan to get him to support the canonization of his mother. I'm guessing that Ernesto's actions at the end of the film demonstrate that by that point he didn't believe this to be true. What is the connection of her character to the plot?

Thanks,

I thing that Ernesto don´t change his mind, but.... anyway.... he takes the girl and don´t ask anymore.

Remember what Ernesto said at the beginning about falling in love? It didn't matter to him that she was part of his family's plot, he was in love with her, period. It was in that scene that Ernesto's ideals are confirmed. He stayed true.

We don't, however, know if she was just doing her job or if she fell in love with him as well. And a relationship born out of deception is not a very promising one.
